1 God stands [unseen] in the meetings of the
powerful on earth [in the monetary conferences, the state meetings, the government debates, the secret meetings of those with agendas to change the way this world runs];
he judges among the rulers of the nations.
2 How long will you govern
unrighteously, and accept [approve] the persons [the behaviour] of the wicked?
Selah.
3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do right
to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: save
them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They [the judges, rulers and leaders of the nations] do not know, neither will they understand;
they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of order [all the foundations for the good of society and mankind are overthrown].
6 I have said, You are gods; and all
of you are children of the most High.
7 But you shall die like men, and lie
down like one of the dead princes.
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for
you shall take possession all nations.
