Let me just put that another way…
‘Come away from everything and everybody
into a quiet place where there are no people around, and where you can both
rest and take the time to restore your life back to sensibility and spiritual
health: for life has become too busy, and there are too many people and things demanding
your attention, and there is less and less time to even sit down and enjoy a
long and uninterrupted meal.’
We have become a stupid and thoughtless society with too much distracting and senseless noise that shuts out the voice of reason. That voice appeals to us to come away from it all, and find a place to renew our strength.
The media feeds us with their lie-filled dung of deceptions; and social media with all of its incessant stupidity has washed out any sensible thinking or God-given creativity from our humanity.
Our spirituality
is all but gone, and we try to live our lives without God as our true centre-point,
and without his instruction as our daily direction and wisdom.
We are fast becoming a race of
zombies that do not need to think anything through for ourselves. Millions simply
listen to that ridiculous electronic gadget in the house, and end up talking to
it like it is human! Common-sense is all but gone after the Fear Agenda took
away most of our human rights and forced us to dress up with terror masks and
walk out into the road in case we got too close to anybody else!
Man cannot live without the word
of God (Luke 4:4). If he does, then he
is but dead and lost, neither knowing who he is or where he is headed. Going to
church and saying ‘God-things’ to try and cover our emptiness and pretence at
being righteous, proves nothing, and does even less.
But here’s an idea: turn off your
mobile for a whole week. What about a single day then?
But, NO, you cannot! It holds you under its spell. Just twenty five years ago we never needed a mobile, but life went on quite normally: and I think was a bit better than it is right now.
This generation is addicted to
stupidity, and incapable of living a natural or normal human life unless plugged into the
constantly monitoring technological matrix that has evolved and stolen the most
important things of life from us all.
Even in church and times of
prayer (should anyone ever have them these days), the phone is a closer and a more essential companion and friend than the Almighty God Himself.
What about a week away in the
countryside or up a mountain without any communication except with God?
With the prophet Jeremiah, I also
earnestly say, ‘Oh that I had in the wilderness [a quiet and uninhabited place]
a lodging place of wayfaring men [those who might travel out from where they are]; that I might
leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of
treacherous [deceitful and unfaithful] men.’
(Jeremiah 9:2, but read the verses that follow in that chapter!)
I sincerely and deeply desire a
place away from all of the noise and bustle of life where those who are
desperate for truth and righteousness could find somewhere to switch off, and
be with God only: a place of revival and nation-changing power.
When I buy the place I have already found,
it will be for those who are willing to travel, and willing to leave all behind
in their quest to seek the Lord and discover a place of refreshing and personal
renewal.
