'In peace true soldiers are captive lions, fretting in their cages. War gives them their liberty and sends them, like boys bounding out of school, to obtain their heart's desire, or perish in the attempt. Battle is the soldier's vital breath! Peace turns him into a stooping asthmatic. War makes him a whole man again, and gives him the heart, strength, and vigour of a hero.'
C.T. Studd (famous British missionary)

A DECLARATION OF LIBERTY

A Declaration

I make a determination this day and a decision of my heart and mind that I will not stay here as I am, doing what I do. I shall break free from the false security; the entrapment of what I anticipated would be yet another year and all the expectation of other people, no matter who those people are.

I will make the change myself and not wait for another to do it for me or even show their approval at what I do.

I shall not wait for anyone else to come and join me or to agree with me, but shall make my own plans and preparations to go and let God use my life (what is left of it) to its fullest in His hands.

I am not a slave, neither the property of any person on this planet. I am a child of God and a servant of the Most High. His demands and desires come before all earthly claims, no matter how near and dear the person making them may be.

If it means selling all that I have, moving to another place or country, leaving family and friends, then I am ready for the decisions that will revolutionize my life and put me in the place where I can be most effective in God’s kingdom.

I have stayed around this mountain long enough (Deuteronomy 2:3) and now it is time to pack my bags, get rid of all the unnecessary clutter that I have collected on my travels, get out of my stagnation zone and put on the full armour of God for the battle ahead.

It is time for me to truly serve the Lord, to preach the Gospel, to bring hope to the dying and deliverance to the captives (Isaiah 61). It is time to get the good news of Jesus to our children and young people, and defy the religious prison that says I must just sit in church, give my 10%, respect the screaming preacher and go home and be a good boy.

The world waits for me; the unsaved wait for me; the sick and wounded wait for me; the kingdom of God waits for me. Why should I waste another moment living an ‘existence’, instead of a fulfilment?

I am not here to ‘survive’. I am not here to be like everyone else. I am here to overcome, to create and inspire, to make a difference, to leave my mark, to run the race, to earn my stripes, to spread the Gospel throughout the world, and to win the fight.

The above is the closing chapter from 'THE DIGNITY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE FORTITUDE OF FAITH' by John Masters. A challenging and motivating book, right on target for this moment in history.  It is not us waiting for God to do something, but God waiting for us to do what we must do in order for Him to come and show His power and glory to a rebellious and godless world that we find ourselves in right now.
