'In peace true soldiers are captive lions, fretting in their cages. War gives them their liberty and sends them, like boys bounding out of school, to obtain their heart's desire, or perish in the attempt. Battle is the soldier's vital breath! Peace turns him into a stooping asthmatic. War makes him a whole man again, and gives him the heart, strength, and vigour of a hero.'
C.T. Studd (famous British missionary)

Reach for the sky

'But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.' Isaiah 40:31

When you feel like you are grounded and getting nowhere; when failure or defeat stands in your face; when there is no-one to lift you up and give you some encouragement, then get yourself up off the ground.

Get yourself out of the lazy armchair; get away from the noise and crowd, standup, and learn how to fly.

The eagle soars above the clouds no matter what the weather may be beneath them. The Bible tells us that those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength and rise up on wings like an eagle.

So, first, you come to God, sit down, receive his strength, and drink in his resurrection life. Then you get up when you are filled, and run until the wind of His Spirit gets under your wings, take off, and fly up above all the rubbish that has kept you down on your face.

It is time to rise up in the power and sufficiency of God.

Trust in the LORD with all of your heart, and do not rely upon your own understanding.  (Proverbs 3:5)
