The words of King David which we might do well to take to heart:
I will sing of mercy and justice: to you, O LORD, will I sing.
I will behave
myself wisely in a perfect way [in a righteous way]. O when God, will you come to
me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart [with integrity and uprightness].
I will set no wicked thing [nothing impure, ungodly, or worthless] in front of my eyes: I hate the work [the practices and behaviour]
of those who turn aside [of those who fall away and turn from from the right way of living];
it shall not cleave to me [it shall not stick to me].
A froward
heart [a perverted or deceitful heart] shall be removed from me [whether that be of my own self, or of a person
who I am acquainted with]: I will not be associated with a wicked person.
Whoever secretly
slanders his neighbour [gossips about them; stabs them in the back], I will cut off [I will shut them down and cut them away from
me]: he that is arrogant and of a proud heart I will not put up with [I will
not entertain or befriend].
My eyes shall look and search for the
faithful souls of the land, so that they may live with me [be my companions, my best friends]: he that walks in a righteous way, he shall work for me [that is the
one I shall employ].
He that works
deceitfully shall not stay inside my house: he that tells lies shall not stay
very long in my sight.
I will soon
destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from
the city of the LORD.
