'In peace true soldiers are captive lions, fretting in their cages. War gives them their liberty and sends them, like boys bounding out of school, to obtain their heart's desire, or perish in the attempt. Battle is the soldier's vital breath! Peace turns him into a stooping asthmatic. War makes him a whole man again, and gives him the heart, strength, and vigour of a hero.'
C.T. Studd (famous British missionary)

‘And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand upon a rock.’  (Exodus 33:21)

There is a place where God wants us to be. It is in his very presence, close to him, where we can stand secure from all that assails our souls, and those things that trouble our walk with him.

It is a place of communion and fellowship with God; a place where the world fades away with all of its worthless claims and demands. There are no mobile phones waiting to ring, nor any other voices demanding our attention.

We stand upon a high cliff-edge looking out upon the glory of God’s majesty, the unending sea of worship and adoration, the beauty of the eternal wonder of grace and mercy to us unworthy sinners; and come to a deep and humbling understanding, that the God of all grace has allowed us to stand next to him and just enjoy the view!

God says,

‘If you will walk in my ways, and if you will keep my charge [do whatever I bid you do], then you shall also judge [rule and govern] my house, and you shall keep my courts [attend my heavenly palaces as a dignitary and an ambassador],

and I will give you places to walk among these that stand by [these the angels and servants of the most High].’  Zechariah 3:7
