'In peace true soldiers are captive lions, fretting in their cages. War gives them their liberty and sends them, like boys bounding out of school, to obtain their heart's desire, or perish in the attempt. Battle is the soldier's vital breath! Peace turns him into a stooping asthmatic. War makes him a whole man again, and gives him the heart, strength, and vigour of a hero.'
C.T. Studd (famous British missionary)

Teaching that changes us

'Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

And to him that strikes you on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that takes away your coat don't stop him from taking your jacket as well.
Give to every man that asks of you; and of him that takes away your goods do not demand them back.
And as you would that people should do to you, do you also to them in the same manner.

For if you love them which love you, so what? what have you got to shout about? for sinners also love those that love them.
And if you do good to them which do good to you, so what? what have you got to show off about? for sinners also do even the same.
And if you lend to them from who you hope to receive again, so what? what have you got to be proud about? for sinners also lend to sinners, in order to receive the same back.

But love you your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest:

for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

Be you therefore merciful, just as your Father in heaven also is merciful.'
