Looking at the circumstances we find our selves in at times, or just looking at the mess of a world in turmoil can really make us wonder whether any good can come out of the situation.
We live such complex lives these days, filled with unbelievable uncertainty and often despondent outcomes. From frightening financial dilemmas to family problems and personal relationship challenges, it is no surprise that we can see no positive answer or good outcome to the pit we have fallen into (or have been thrown into).
The darkness of pessimism and despondency blot out any ray of sunlight that might give a little hope for a positive solution. Despair, unbelief and being utterly lost can make us prisoners of hopelessness.
But despite all the lies of the whispering demons of defeat, a light does arise behind the gathering storm clouds, and the darkest thunderclouds sport a silver edge telling us that all is not lost.
In a dark moment of life, King David declared, "I shall not die, but live, and speak again of the mighty wonders of my God!" He looked beyond the doom and gloom surrounding him to a brighter day when the skies would clear and the sun burst once more into view.
When told that the Messiah, the Saviour of Israel had turned up in Nazareth, the incredulous Phillip responded, "Huh! Can anything good come out of that place?"
However, from the chaos, lightning and thundering of creation, a planet called Earth was born. From the darkness of the deep and the waters swirling the world, all of life was designed and brought into being. From a handful of mixed dust in the palm of God, he brought forth the first man, created in his likeness and given life with God's own breath!
At the cross, where an innocent man named Jesus the Christ was beaten, tortured and hung to die; where the skies went black and the earth heaved with a violent earthquake; where men and women jeered and mocked and struck the King of Kings with their hands, with sticks and a spear; where the little band of followers lost their dreams and hopes and were plunged into their worst nightmare and unbelievable defeat: from all of this came the blinding light of victory over Satan, victory over death, victory over sins' curse, victory over the darkness, and victory over hell itself!
From this impossible, from this unlikely, from this unforeseeable and incomprehensible, came the most glorious day the universe has ever seen! God turns chaos into order, broken hearts into joy, lost hopes into new dreams, ruined lives into glorious saints, lost souls into adopted sons and daughters of the Almighty God!
Today, whatever your circumstances, wherever you may be, whatever may have happened or is happening right now, or whatever you fear may be going to fall upon you tomorrow, it is not the end.
God is bigger than all your problems, stronger than all your adversaries, wiser than every advisor or counsellor, and more creative than you may dare to imagine.
The Bible tells us to call upon him in the day of trouble, and he will deliver us. We must give all our worries and our burdens to the Lord, rolling them onto him who is much more able to carry them than we are.
We must trust him with all of our hearts with an outcome that we cannot imagine ourselves procuring.
We must trust him with all of our hearts with an outcome that we cannot imagine ourselves procuring.
He is more than able to do exceedingly greater than all that we may think possible or even dare to ask!
Give him thanks and praise for what he has done, and what he is about to do in your life and with those circumstances that left you in the mud of unbelief.
As you do this, you will rise from the dust, find wings like eagles, and discover that you can fly high above the storms of life, far above the depressions and frustrations of mankind and his useless advice.
You will find that the clouds of glory and expectation will hold your weight as you behold and see the wonder and beauty of a Creator God who loves you and who will never ever forsake you.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend or rely upon your own understanding or imaginations.
He will do great and mighty things which will make you gasp in astonishment!
He will do great and mighty things which will make you gasp in astonishment!
